# Permissions

This guide covers all the permissions required by Poolaris to function smoothly. Ensure these are correctly set up for an optimal experience.

# Discord Bot

When you first invite the bot, these are the permissions you should expect it to ask for.

Permission Type Permissions
Dangerous Permissions Manage Channels
Manage Roles
Manage Webhooks
Manage Messages
Manage Nicknames
General Permissions View Channels
Send Messages
Embed Links
Attach Files
Use External Emojis
Read Message History
Add Reactions

# Club Officers

Club Officers need the Manage Server permission to use /settings commands in their servers. Once the setup is complete, Poolaris will rely on the Poolaris Manager role it creates for all other commands. Ensure this role is not modified or deleted for Poolaris to function properly.

Managers are provided with Manage Permissions and Manage Messages permissions in most of the channels within the category created during setup.

# Players

Players registered with Poolaris will get the following permissions within the Poolaris category channels:

  • View Channel permission in most channels.
  • Ability to Send Messages and Use Application Commands in the Poolaris chat channel.

# Troubleshooting

If Poolaris isn't functioning as expected, ensure all permissions are correctly granted and that the bot's channel overrides match what it initially configured. If everything appears correct but issues persist, temporarily grant the bot Administrator permissions and test again.

  • If it works with Administrator permissions, the problem was likely due to missing permissions.
  • If it still doesn’t work, or if it does have all required perms and doesn't work, submit a bug report for further assistance.
